“When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I’d like to know them. Anyone, I know I photograph.” -Annie Leibovitz
This is one of my favorite quotes, and best describes how I like to photograph my couples. I got lucky with Curie and David and really got to know them when I flew to New York City for their engagement session. We spent all day together (see engagement blog for all of our activities) and by the end of the trip, we had taken some great photos because of it! (Potential bride tip: always take engagement photos with your actual wedding photographer.)
Curie and David’s wedding day was no different! It rained, but the porch at Founders Hall was the perfect place for photos without getting wet. Their first-look reactions were adorable and ended with happy tears! Their inside ceremony was filled with ivory flowers, white columns, and white walls. My favorite moment was when Curie’s parents walked her down the aisle and cried happy tears as they gave her away!
Introducing the new Mr. and Mrs. Placke!
The bridal party celebrated the new marriage by physically picking up the bride and groom for photos! At the reception, their friends and family were so lovely that I dedicated an entire photo square to table shots (I never blog table shots). After the maid of honor and best man gave mic-drop worthy speeches, everyone got a sugar rush from the delicious dessert table and took to the dance floor. This included Curie’s glittery Keds (my favorite wedding shoes), NYU nurses, Florida Gators, and a baby. Curie and David topped off the night with their own graceful lift rendition from Dirty Dancing.
The night ended perfectly with streamers and bubbles as they said goodbye to their family and friends!
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Placke! It was such an honor to get to know you two 😉 and be a part of your special day!
