Intimate Backyard Ceremony
We love backyard weddings, especially when they come with a lake! Chris + Amy tied the knot (or in their case, cut-the-log) in an intimate ceremony at their own home in Marietta, Georgia.
Spring came just in time, and their backyard was full of colorful flowers, with some growing in just a couple of days before. Amy got ready in their favorite room of the house, the sunroom, which made for some gorgeous dress and getting-ready photos.
Their first-look was on the larger of their two docks with the lake as the backdrop. Chris and Amy’s reactions after seeing each other for the first time will melt your heart! Chris makes Amy laugh, and it’s hard not to fall in love with Amy’s laugh. These two are perfect for each other, or as their Snapchat filter would say, “Lucky in love!”
Their ceremony included an altar of ivory flowers and a gorgeous lakeside view! Amy rocked pink converses down the aisle, while the flower girls did the same. Amy is a police officer, so the ring bearers wore police badges and sunglasses down the aisle! Chris and Amy’s ‘I do’s’ included a log-cutting ceremony, which is an old German wedding custom that represents the first obstacle a couple must overcome in their marriage.
Then they kissed and threw their hands in the air!
The reception decor was stunning! The tables lined with greenery and candles overlooked the lake. The find-your-seat sign matched the table numbers and menus wrapped in pink cloth. Their cake also matched the greenery and floral with a yummy strawberry flavor. BUT, when it came time to cut the cake, they cut another cake, a log cake. This was because sawing wood wasn’t their first true obstacle to overcome. It was actually smashing cake into each other’s faces, which they accomplished with flying cake flavors!
More highlights included toasts and Chris and Amy’s reaction to them, the fireworks, and dancing to a live band (cool breeze included).
I’m so excited to share these special moments!
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Welchel! I loved being a part of your special day.
